Dan: First of all, I want to say how much I love the Fable Farm Series. I know it’s for 7-12 years olds but I still find the stories funny, scary, creative, and addictive. I really admire your work as an author and am really grateful you have taken the time to communicate with me. My first question to you is, what where you like in school?
Heather: I was a good student. I liked most subjects, especially English. The only thing I would get in trouble for was passing notes.
Dan: Did you write a lot as a youth?
Heather: Yes, but not fiction. I spent numerous hours trading notes with friends and writing in diaries.
Dan: Diaries? You had more than one?
Heather: I had dozens.
Dan: Did any English teacher recognize the beginnings of a great literary talent in you?
Heather: I am honored you think me to be a great literary talent! I had a few teachers who strongly believed in my writing and encouraged me to get published.
Dan: How did you get involved with the Fable Farm series?
Heather: A simple query letter which piqued the publisher’s interest.
Dan: You’ve been compared to R.L. Stine. How does that make you feel?
Heather: I take that comment as a compliment, but I don’t believe it is justifiable.
Dan: Who are your literary influences?
Heather: I’m more influenced by my imagination and surroundings.
Dan: What are your hopes for Fable Farm?
Heather: I just want people to read the books and hopefully enjoy them.
Dan: What’s next for you?
Heather: I’m working towards a university degree. I write whenever I have the time. I have many books forthcoming and am currently writing a 13 episode TV series.
Dan: Breaking into television must be exhausting!
Heather: It is but I take it one day at a time and try to gather as much information and contacts as possible.
Dan: I know you will succeed in whatever field of writing you choose. You have already made a great start to establishing yourself. You have many fans who love your writing.
Heather: Thank you for saying so.
Dan: No, thank you.
I am as impressed with Heather as I am with her writing. I have made it my mission to get everyone in Canada to read a book from the Fable Farm series. This is a big and probably unrealistic goal to make but I believe it is worth it. I haven’t met anyone who hasn’t liked Fable Farm after reading it. There is something to be found in each book for everyone. Click on the links below to purchase books from the Fable Farm series and to find out why the series has never gotten a bad review.
Long live literarcy and fun!
